Artist Statement

During my internship at Folkways, I carried out my camera with me whenever I stepped out of home. I portrayed the exteriors of a shut-down city due to Covid-19. Then, the protests of the Black Lives Matter movement erupted, changing the urban landscape, occupying the soil of the city center, and claiming massively equal rights and the end of police brutality. It was one of the most intense experiences of my life.

A protester sits on the top of a traffic light, below the new sign “Black Lives Matter Plaza”. He looks towards the White House, or maybe beyond it.
