A pile of white elk antlers
The organic shape of antlers creates a tangled texture. Countless elk antlers fill the entire photograph, curving white lines twirling over and around each other. Shadows create dark pockets in the tangle. The sharp edges of the photograph contrast with the curves of the antlers, which flow beyond the edges of the image.

I love the combination of these antlers being both tangled and simple at the same time. The lovely contrast really caught my eye. Who would have known that I would appreciate this image even more now that I work at the Zoo and have grown to love animals and their beauty even more.

A close-up of sun-bleached elk antlers, taken in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
