A road through two mountains
A curving road cuts between two mountains. Sunset paints the blue and gray sky with glowing shades of pink, orange, and pale yellow. The long exposure photographic technique transforms the lights from the passing cars’ headlights and taillights into beautiful ribbons of neon light running along the road.

I took this photo on a road trip home from a family reunion. I was with my younger brother, we stopped at the Cumberland rest stop and walked across the catwalk to stretch our legs. I didn't have a tripod on me so put my camera on the railing and prayed the shaking from the cars below wouldn't ruin the photo. I took multiple shots and this one was my favorite.

Sideling Hill Overlook in Cumberland, MD. In the photograph there is a curving road that cuts between two mountains. This photo was a long exposure that was taken at sunset. The long exposure caught the lights from the passing cars headlights and taillights which made beautiful ribbons of light that run along the road.
