Statue through trees
A black and white image taken on a clear winter day shows silhouettes of trees against a modern building. The stark contrast makes the building a canvas. Dark, leafless tree branches stand out against the light-colored angular building façade. The middle of the building has a striking black rectangle, perhaps a window or an entryway. Shadows from the trees create more organic lines across the building.

Artist Statement

I have been snapping pictures for a number of years and have used this medium as an extension of my studies in art, architecture and interior design. That's the obvious piece, the not so obvious piece is that this also represents the extension of my studies and work as leadership coach. The path to being more present resides within us and I strive to take moments everyday to stop, pause, look around and see beyond the obvious. Sure, everyone can take pictures, but for me photographs capture a moment, an experience, a visual record of light and contrasts that we often don't stop to admire or appreciate.

The image illustrates the contrast of nature and man-made. The contrast of light and dark, angles and shapes. It also illustrates a moment, on a winter day, when one stops, to look and admire the contrasts and connections of nature and architecture.
